Week 3
Sitting through PowerPoint presentations and trainings is often viewed as a necessary evil of working in a professional organization.  While a PowerPoint should ideally be a visually appealing complement to a speech or lecture, too often presenters create crowded, ineffective slides with either too much or not enough text, or an overload of “gimmicks” like clip art, sound files, and jarring transitions.
What are two of your presentation software pet peeves, or things to avoid?

Week 4
The SUM function is the most commonly used function in spreadsheets which is covered this week in our learning materials.
Describe a scenario where you could personally use the SUM function in a worksheet and briefly discuss what factors you would consider in deciding to take the time to set up SUM functions in a spreadsheet vs. just manually updating totals with a calculator.

Week 5

Each week, you will be asked to respond to the prompt or prompts in the discussion forum. Your initial post should be 75-150 words in length, and is due on Sunday. By Tuesday, you should respond to two additional posts from your peers.

Conditional Formating

What is the purpose of conditional formatting? When would you use it? What are the advantages and disadvantages, if any, to using conditional formatting?
Create a new workbook and enter the numbers of your choice in a worksheet. Then practice applying conditional formatting to the numbers.  Attach the worksheet and explain the conditional formatting you used, such as purpose, criteria and results expected.
Only the spreadsheet created would be attached. Questions and explaination would be in the discussion window.
To learn about Conditional formatting ensure you read Excel Module/chapter assigned this week.
Week 6
Perform research on the Internet to find best practices or tips when creating and/or working with Excel spreadsheets. In your discussion post, describe TWO of the best practices or tips you found and why you think the tips are important.
Include links to sources used.
An example of one tip might be form and function should be completed in a spreadsheet before aesthetics (how something looks).  It is important because we have to make sure everything works (data correct, functions and formulas correct) before formatting as sometimes if something looks really nice we can miss things that are not working.

Week 7
Using Excel Help in Excel program, research the types of error messages we might encounter when building formulas, functions or in other areas using Excel. Pick one error and share in discussion. Provide the actual error that would appear in the cell, the error message and explain what causes the error.
Week 8
Which concepts in CS155 were the easiest for you to grasp?  Which were the most difficult?  What were some elements of this class that you especially liked or did not like?
